These two cancers are treated in different ways, so it is essential to know which one you have been diagnosed with. SCLC 20% of all lung cancers are normally considered to be SCLC. This case of lung cancer is considered to be the dangerous because it is the most destructive and grows the fastest in the body. People who smoke cigarettes are more likely to develop SCLC, and about 1% of non-smokers have SCLC.This type of cancer spreads quite quickly throughout the body and it Is often discovered only after it has spread extensively. NSCLC This type of cancer is the most common type of lung cancer. It accounts for about 80% of lung cancer diagnosed. There are three names for this cancer based on the types of cells in the tumor. Adenocarcinomas: This type of NSCLC occurs in the outer areas of the lungs. There have been cases where it has spread to the lymph nodes and beyond. This type is common in non-smoking women and in the Asian population. Squamous cell carcinomas: This cancer arise from the central chest area in the bronchi . It also spreads in the lymph nodes, and eventually forms a cavity.
